MTN Ghana launches Heroes of Change Season 8 with GH¢400,000 top prize

MTN Ghana inaugurated the eighth season of its Heroes of Change programme, a flagship corporate social investment initiative that recognises ordinary Ghanaians who make selfless contributions to education, health, economic empowerment, digital innovation and community development. The launch, held at the company’s headquarters in Accra, coincided with MTN’s 30th‑anniversary celebrations and its Sustainability Month theme “Together for a Sustainable Future: Small Actions, Big Impact.”

Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer Adwoa Wiafe announced that the overall winner’s prize has been doubled from GH¢200,000 to GH¢400,000, with the first runner‑up receiving GH¢200,000 and each finalist GH¢100,000. New special awards for sustainability and digital innovation were also introduced. Since its inception in 2013, the programme has honoured more than 100 individuals, and the MTN Ghana Foundation has delivered over 178 projects that have reached about five million people.

The current season’s winner, Dr Angela Dwamena‑Aboagye of the Ark Foundation, was highlighted alongside past awardees, underscoring the programme’s focus on recognising quiet, impactful community work.
