MTN Ghana leaders advocate for regulatory reform and sustainability
MTN Ghana leadership has emphasized the need for strategic growth through both regulatory reform and expanded sustainability initiatives. Dr. Ishmael Yamson, Board Chairman of MTN Ghana, urged African governments to support home-grown multinationals to bolster regional integration and global competitiveness. He identified the lack of harmonized regulations across different countries as a major obstacle to business expansion and called for aligned laws to support the ambitions of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Simultaneously, MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett launched the company's 2026 Sustainability Month in Accra. Under the theme 'Together for a Sustainable Future: Small Actions, Big Impact,' the initiative aims to move environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts from awareness to measurable results. Key achievements cited include the distribution of biodegradable SIM cards to over 4.7 million customers and the installation of 3.02 megawatts of solar power across various sites.
