MTN Nigeria records record N1.09 trn pre‑tax profit in H1 2026
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc posted a record pre‑tax profit of N1.09 trillion for the six months ended 30 June 2026, a 75.4 % year‑on‑year increase. Revenue rose 25.9 % to N2.99 trillion, driven largely by a surge in data services. Data revenue grew 38.3 % to N1.70 trillion, representing about 56.8 % of total revenue and accounting for most of the overall revenue growth. Profit after tax climbed 70.6 % to N707.5 billion and earnings per share rose in line with earnings. The company announced an interim dividend of N26 per share payable on 7 September 2026. Strong subscriber growth, lower finance costs and a more stable naira helped offset inflationary pressures and boosted margins. The results underscore the resilience of Nigeria’s digital economy and MTN’s transformation into a data‑centric operator.
