MTN Nigeria warns of fake 25GB anniversary data giveaway scams

MTN Nigeria has issued a warning to its subscribers regarding fraudulent online promotions claiming to offer a free 25GB data bundle as part of the company's 25th anniversary celebration. The telecommunications company reported that unauthorized links and social media posts are circulating, attempting to trick users into visiting fake websites.

MTN stated that the legitimate anniversary offer is available exclusively through official channels: the MyMTN NG App and the MTN eShop. Customers are advised not to click on suspicious links, share personal information, or make payments to third-party platforms claiming to facilitate the giveaway.

Cybersecurity experts noted that these types of scams often replicate official branding to exploit consumer interest in limited-time rewards, potentially exposing users to phishing attacks designed to steal banking details, passwords, and other sensitive personal data.
