MTN Uganda partners with Starlink to provide satellite internet to remote businesses

MTN Uganda has launched ‘MTN Starlink for Business’, a service providing satellite internet to businesses, schools, and institutions in underserved and remote regions. As an authorized reseller of SpaceX’s Starlink, MTN Uganda will offer installation, account management, and local customer support.

The service aims to bridge digital infrastructure gaps in areas where traditional mobile and fiber networks are limited or unavailable. MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge stated that the satellite connection will complement existing offerings, serving as a primary connection, a backup, or a standalone solution for locations where terrestrial infrastructure is difficult or costly to deploy.

Targeted sectors for this connectivity include education, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, mining, energy, construction, and humanitarian work. The service was officially launched at Libra International School in Zirobwe, an institution that previously struggled with reliable connectivity due to its location outside major urban centers.
