MTU Aero Engines posts strong first‑half 2026 earnings

German engine maker MTU Aero Engines reported a 13% rise in first‑half 2026 revenue to roughly €4.7 billion and a 5% increase in net profit to €502 million. CEO Johannes Bussmann and CFO Katja Garcia Vila said the results put the DAX‑listed group on track to meet its full‑year targets, including a projected €9.2‑€9.7 billion turnover.

The company highlighted growing demand from civil aviation and defence, noting that its maintenance and military‑engine work outperformed the prior year. MTU collaborates with Pratt & Whitney and Japanese Aero Engines on a geared‑fan engine that powers the Airbus A220 and roughly half of the A320neo family, while also supplying components for large Boeing jets. Despite a weaker US dollar affecting new‑engine sales, the order backlog stood at €30.4 billion at the end of June, equating to about three years of production capacity for its roughly 14,100 employees.
