Muara Enim Regent Edison Faces Expanded Corruption Probe in Indonesia

Indonesia's anti‑corruption commission (KPK) has broadened its investigation into alleged bribery in Muara Enim, South Sumatra. Investigators questioned the district secretary Yulius and DPRD member Harmison as witnesses at the South Sumatra police headquarters, and later summoned DPMPTSP chief Tarmizi Ismail for testimony.

The probe stems from operations on 7–8 June 2026 that detained former regent Edison and ten others. KPK alleges a rupiah 500 million kick‑back was paid to secure procurement of smart‑board equipment for the district’s education department. Additional suspects include education‑department staff, private‑sector representatives, and a former BPK official. The commission has arrested multiple civil servants and private individuals in Jakarta and Sumatra as the investigation continues.
