Muay Thai athletes secure medals at 2026 National Championship

Athletes from various Indonesian regions achieved success at the 2026 National Muay Thai Championship held in Bekasi, West Java, from August 4 to 9.

Dwi Nur Halimah, representing Kediri Regency, secured a gold medal. As the sole athlete from Kediri to qualify for the national event, her victory is seen as a significant milestone for the region's sports development.

The South Kalimantan Muay Thai contingent earned six medals despite limited preparation. The haul included three silver medals won by Rizki Aji Pratama (81kg elite men), Siti Khairun Napisah (57kg U24), and Heldawati (43kg elite women), alongside three bronze medals won by M Rafli, Safuani, and Nailiyah.

Local sports officials from both South Kalimantan and Kediri indicated that these results will serve as evaluations to improve athlete training, facilities, and welfare in preparation for future competitions, including the PON Bela Diri and Porprov Jatim 2027.
