MUBI announces October programming featuring horror and auteur cinema
MUBI has announced its programming lineup for October, featuring a mix of contemporary premieres, auteur cinema, and horror classics. A central highlight is the release of ‘Adolescence, Sex, and Death in Camp Miasma’, directed by Jane Schoenbrun, which arrives on October 2. The film, starring Gillian Anderson and Hannah Einbinder, explores themes of identity and desire through a queer lens while paying homage to 1980s slasher films.
To coincide with Halloween, the platform is hosting a special cycle of horror classics, including David Cronenberg’s ‘Videodrome’, John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’, George A. Romero’s ‘Day of the Dead’, and the Spanish cult film ‘Arrebato’ by Iván Zulueta.
Other notable additions to the catalog include Alice Rohrwacher’s ‘La Chimera’, premiering October 16, and Xavier Dolan’s first miniseries, ‘The Night Logan Woke Up’, arriving on October 15. The selection also features works by Martin Scorsese and various masters of German Expressionism.
