Muccia municipal laundry reconstruction approved with €300,000 investment
The Ufficio Speciale Ricostruzione has approved the executive project for the demolition and reconstruction of the municipal laundry in Muccia. The project has been granted a contribution of €299,998 as part of the Extraordinary Urban Regeneration Program linked to post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.
The intervention aims to restore functionality to a public structure that historically served a significant social role in the community. The plan includes the complete reconstruction of the building using reinforced concrete foundations, a brick-clad load-bearing structure, and a wooden roof with traditional tiles to maintain local architectural characteristics. The project also involves recovering surrounding areas and the perimeter wall.
Guido Castelli, the extraordinary reconstruction commissioner, emphasized that urban regeneration is vital for relaunching inland areas affected by earthquakes, noting that such projects recover historical identity and improve public space quality. This project also integrates with the ‘Parco dei Mulini’ initiative, which seeks to requalify the historical center of Muccia and the areas between the Chienti River and the local water channels.
