Mucunski highlights strengthened North Macedonia-U.S. relations
North Macedonian Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski has emphasized the strengthening bilateral relations between North Macedonia and the United States. Speaking from the UN General Assembly in New York, Mucunski noted that the country maintains constant communication at all levels with the new U.S. administration.
Mucunski highlighted a significant meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other high-ranking State Department officials responsible for Europe and the Balkans. He stated that this strategic partnership and the implementation of agreed-upon projects are essential for the long-term political and economic security and stability of North Macedonia.
Regarding European integration, Mucunski expressed a desire to advance toward EU membership and open negotiations. However, he asserted that the country is not prepared to accept compromises that undermine national predictability. He called for the involvement of EU institutions or member states in future dialogues with Bulgaria to help build necessary trust.
