Mudanya bakery fined for selling moldy products

A bakery in the Mudanya district of Bursa has been issued an administrative fine of 52,800 TL following reports of moldy food products. The incident began on October 21, 2026, when a 23-year-old mother, B. K., discovered mold on cheese products she had purchased from the establishment in the Güzelyalı neighborhood.

B. K., who is breastfeeding, expressed concerns regarding her and her baby's health. She alleged that when she attempted to return the products and record the incident on her mobile phone, she was prevented from doing so. She further claimed that staff responded dismissively to her inquiries about product freshness.

Following a social media report by the customer, food control teams from the Mudanya District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry conducted an official inspection on October 22, 2026. The Bursa Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry confirmed that deficiencies were identified during the inspection, leading to the administrative sanctions against the business.
