Mudanya marks 104th anniversary of the Mudanya Armistice

Mudanya, Turkey, marked the 104th anniversary of the Mudanya Armistice with a series of commemorative events. The celebrations included the Mudanya International Peace Symposium, where historians, diplomats, and politicians discussed the armistice’s diplomatic legacy and its role in transitioning military victories into political stability.

In addition to academic discussions, the anniversary featured a high-profile aerial performance by the Turkish Air Force’s aerobatic team, SOLOTÜRK. The flight attracted large crowds, causing significant traffic congestion throughout the Mudanya district as residents and visitors gathered along the coast to watch the maneuvers.

Official ceremonies were held at the Armistice House, where local leaders and political figures honored the heroes of the Turkish War of Independence. During the proceedings, Professor Mehmet Haberal was presented with the Peace Path Award. Speakers emphasized that the 1922 agreement was a crucial diplomatic milestone that paved the way for the Treaty of Lausanne and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.
