Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç Unveils Hal Meydanı Revamp and New Beach Facility

Mudanya Municipality announced a comprehensive redevelopment of the historic Hal Meydanı square. Mayor Deniz Dalgıç said the project will conclude existing lease contracts and launch a new tender that will bring a variety of businesses—including bakeries, cafés, boutiques, and a market—while preserving traditional trades such as barbers and knife‑makers. He denied rumours of forced evictions, stressing that no shop will be removed before the new tender is awarded and that the cultural character of the square will be protected.

In parallel, the city opened Plaj Mudanya on Güzelyalı beach. Operated by the municipal company MUDAŞ, the beach offers sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets and a low‑price kiosk. Dalgıç emphasized that the sea and its beaches belong to all citizens and that the new facility aims to boost Mudanya’s summer tourism and provide safe, accessible coastal recreation.
