Mudanya municipality renovates parks and adds new sports complex

Mudanya Municipality in Bursa, Turkey, is overhauling several local parks to improve accessibility, recreational use and sports facilities. The first phase updated playground equipment in Kumyaka neighbourhood and transformed the 19 Mayıs Youth Park in Halitpaşa into an inclusive, barrier‑free park for all children.

A centerpiece of the project is the 3,855 sqm Masal Park, which is being converted into a modern sports complex. Existing tennis courts will be retained while four new pickleball courts, table‑tennis stations, a training wall and stepped seating are added, preserving 1,397 sqm of green space. Additional plans call for redesigning Güzelyalı Şehit Feyyaz İlhan Park, Örümcek Adam Park and Uzay Park to prioritize rest areas, community interaction and natural landscaping.

Mayor Deniz Dalgıç said, "We aim to create public spaces where children can play freely and families can spend time safely. Each neighbourhood has its own needs, so we tailor solutions rather than applying a one‑size‑fits‑all approach."
