Mudanya Municipality signs climate action protocol with Istanbul Energy Inc

Mudanya Municipality and Istanbul Energy Inc. have signed a cooperation protocol for the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP). The partnership aims to create a roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, and adapt to the effects of climate change in the Mudanya district.

Following Mudanya's commitment to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy last year, the agreement was signed by Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç and Istanbul Energy Inc. Energy Management and Project Manager Ersin Aydın. As an initial step, a workshop titled ‘Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and Climate Adaptation Workshop’ was held to assess the local impacts of climate change and discuss mitigation strategies.

Mayor Dalgıç emphasized that sustainability is a collective responsibility involving the entire community, noting that protecting the environment is as vital as preserving the region's cultural heritage.
