Mudanya to build memorial for Cyprus War veterans

In Mudanya, local authorities have announced plans to honor Cyprus War veterans by establishing a permanent memorial. Following ceremonies held for September 19 Veterans Day, Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç confirmed that the Mudanya Rest Area has been officially renamed the ‘1974 Mudanya-Cyprus Veterans Rest Area’ by a unanimous municipal council decision.

A memorial monument will be constructed at the entrance of the area to feature the names of Mudanyalı veterans who participated in the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation. To ensure the monument is a meaningful piece of art that connects the past with future generations, the municipality will organize a design competition. This competition will invite architects, designers, artists, and young people to submit proposals for a work that integrates with the local landscape and preserves the memory of the veterans within the city's daily life.
