Mudit Chawla arrested by Delhi Crime Branch in gun‑point rape case

Delhi's Crime Branch NDR Unit arrested Mudit Chawla, an accused who had been on the run since 2024, after a targeted operation on July 29, 2026. The suspect was charged with raping a woman at gunpoint, recording obscene photographs and videos, and repeatedly blackmailing and sexually exploiting her by threatening to circulate the material. The alleged assault occurred in July 2023 at the complainant's residence in Dwarka, where the accused also threatened her three‑year‑old son with a firearm and administered an injection to render her unconscious.

The case was registered as FIR No. 432/2024 under Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code at Dwarka North Police Station on September 19, 2024. Police traced Chawla to the Nangloi area of Delhi after a tip‑off and captured him with a trap laid by the Crime Branch. The operation was overseen by senior officers including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Chandra Kumar Singh.
