Indonesia Ministry of Hajj and Umrah promotes local MSMEs and ensures pilgrim safety
The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is actively working to integrate local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) into the global Hajj and Umrah supply chain. During an expo in Yogyakarta, Minister Mochamad Irfan Yusuf highlighted the strategic potential of Yogyakarta’s creative industries, including Muslim fashion, handicrafts, and halal culinary products, to meet the needs of pilgrims.
Addressing regional security concerns, Deputy Minister Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak confirmed that the Saudi Arabian government maintains that conditions remain safe for Umrah worship despite tensions in the Middle East. The Ministry is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to monitor the situation and advises Indonesian pilgrims and travel organizers to prioritize direct flights to Jeddah or Madinah to minimize transit risks.
Separately, the BSI International Expo 2026 in Jakarta has seen significant engagement from consumers seeking local fashion and Sharia-based financial services. MUF Syariah participated in the expo to offer various Sharia-compliant vehicle financing promotions, including low down payments and cashback incentives, in collaboration with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI).
