MUFG adopts OutSystems to automate BHC Act compliance

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has implemented a new system using the OutSystems platform to manage compliance with the U.S. Bank Holding Company Act (BHC Act). The new system aims to streamline the verification and management of investment information across numerous group companies and funds.

Previously, MUFG relied on manual processes involving Microsoft Access and large Excel spreadsheets to manage data for tens of thousands of business entities. This manual approach made it difficult to respond quickly to unpredictable regulatory changes. By adopting OutSystems, MUFG has transitioned to a visual modeling environment that allows business units to develop, maintain, and improve applications internally.

Since the system's operational launch in July 2025, MUFG has reported significant efficiency gains. The time required to calculate voting rights ratios has been reduced from several hours to approximately 10 minutes. The company noted that the new system has improved overall operational efficiency by up to 30% and enabled more sophisticated analysis of investment data.
