Muhammad Ali series ‘The Greatest’ to premiere on Prime Video
Prime Video is set to release ‘The Greatest’, an eight-episode original series chronicling the life of Muhammad Ali. The production is the first series officially authorized by the Ali family, with Lonnie Ali serving as an executive producer.
Presented at a press conference in Rome, the series stars Jaalen Best as the young Cassius Clay and Giovanni Ribisi as his trainer, Angelo Dundee. Showrunner Ben Watkins noted that the series aims to explore the man behind the icon, focusing on his personal growth and the transition from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali.
The first season covers the pivotal years between 1960 and 1964, beginning with his gold medal win at the Rome Olympics and concluding with his first world championship and his conversion to Islam. The narrative will also address themes of racism and discrimination faced by the Clay family in Louisville, Kentucky.
