Muhammad Herindra appointed to lead PB ESI for 2026–2030 term

Muhammad Herindra has officially been inaugurated as the Chairperson of the Indonesian Esports Association (PB ESI) for the 2026–2030 term. Herindra aims to leverage Indonesia's large gaming population—estimated at over 200 million active gamers—to transform the nation into a major esports power in Asia.

Herindra emphasized that his leadership is a strategic responsibility to strengthen the domestic industry, including game developers, content creators, and streaming platforms, ensuring Indonesia is more than just a consumer market. He intends to build upon existing competitive structures, such as the National Esports League and various student competitions, to cultivate international-level talent.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat expressed support, noting that esports has evolved from mere entertainment into a professional industry and a vital part of the future for younger generations. Additionally, Marciano Norman, Chairman of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI), highlighted the importance of supporting athletes for upcoming events like the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and fostering local game development to boost the national economy.
