Muhammad Shahzad sets Pakistani first-class century record

Muhammad Shahzad has set a new Pakistani national record for the fastest first-class century, reaching three figures in just 49 balls. The 22-year-old achieved the milestone while playing for Pakistan Television (PTV) against Kingsmen Academy during a third-round President’s Trophy Grade-I match at the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad.

Shahzad’s performance broke the previous national record of 56 balls held by former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who set the mark against Australia in 2014. Shahzad’s innings included 12 fours and eight sixes before he was eventually dismissed for 114 runs off 62 deliveries. This feat also ranks as the eighth-fastest century in the history of first-class cricket.

After PTV fell to 34-3, Shahzad entered the crease at number five and formed a 143-run fourth-wicket partnership with Mohammad Taha, who scored 43. This century marks Shahzad’s sixth in first-class cricket.
