Muhammad Sheikhi jailed for four years after sexual assaults in Falkirk

Muhammad Sheikhi, a 23-year-old Syrian refugee, has been sentenced to four years in prison following his conviction for the sexual assault of two women in Falkirk. The sentencing took place at Stirling Sheriff Court on Monday.

The assaults occurred in the early hours of November 30 near Hotel Cladhan. Sheikhi targeted the first victim at a railway bridge on Kerse Lane and a second victim at a nearby skate park. Both victims were in their early 20s and were walking home alone after being in the town centre.

Sheriff Keith O’Mahony described the attacks as “deliberate and predatory,” noting that the sentence was imposed at the upper end of his sentencing powers due to the seriousness of the crimes. In addition to his prison term, Sheikhi has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and is prohibited from contacting or approaching the victims for 10 years.
