Muhammadiyah expands social, economic, and humanitarian initiatives

Muhammadiyah is undertaking several strategic initiatives across social, economic, and humanitarian sectors. Haedar Nashir, Chairman of Muhammadiyah, received the Achmad Bakrie XXII Award in the field of Social Thought, an honor he dedicated to the organization’s long-standing commitment to community empowerment.

On the economic front, the Majelis Tabligh is developing the ‘Jaya Berkemajuan Mosque Cooperative’ and the ‘Tabligh Mart’ to establish an economic ecosystem centered around mosques, aiming to improve congregational welfare through community-based business models.

In response to recent seismic activity, the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) has deployed a 22-person Emergency Medical Team (EMT) to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The team, which meets WHO verification standards, is tasked with supporting healthcare services at the Dampek Community Health Center in East Manggarai following earthquake damage.

Additionally, leadership has identified key challenges for the organization’s future outreach, including the need to improve the quality of proselytization, expand reach to underserved communities, and increase engagement with younger demographics.
