Muhammadiyah opens seventh Mentari Mart store in Jember

Muhammadiyah’s central board launched the seventh Mentari Mart retail outlet on 1 August in Watukebo, Jember, East Java. The store is part of a modern, Sharia‑compliant retail network created in February 2025 in partnership with national retailer Alfamart, which supplies POS systems, inventory management and supply‑chain support.

The chain is intended to strengthen the economic independence of the Muslim community, provide a distribution channel for local UMKM products, and promote professional management of the stores. Chairman Prof. Haedar Nashir emphasized the need for high‑quality governance and encouraged Indonesians to buy domestically, saying that a strong Muhammadiyah economy benefits both the ummah and the nation.
