Muhammadiyah prepares for major national events in Medan and Surabaya

The Muhammadiyah organization is preparing for two significant upcoming gatherings in Indonesia. North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has expressed the provincial government's readiness to support the 49th Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Muktamar, scheduled for November 2027 in Medan.

Officials expect the Muktamar to attract up to 1 million visitors, including participants from various regions and abroad. This event is viewed as a strategic opportunity to boost the local economy, specifically benefiting the hospitality, transportation, culinary, and MSME sectors.

Separately, the Majelis Tarjih dan Tajdid of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership will hold its 33rd National Munas Tarjih from November 5 to 7, 2026, at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya. The assembly will bring together scholars from across Indonesia, including Aceh and Papua, to discuss topics such as Islamic creed, practical ethics, elderly jurisprudence, and food sovereignty. The event will also feature national seminars focusing on food sovereignty and the intellectual legacy of KH Mas Mansur.
