Muhammadiyah Universities Celebrate Anniversary and New Professor Appointment

Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UNIMMA) marked its 62nd anniversary on 31 July with a Tabligh Akbar held in the campus auditorium. The event featured KH Fathurrahman Kamal, the chair of the Muhammadiyah Tabligh Council, who spoke on the role of ideology and integrity in higher education. UNIMMA rector Dr Lilik Andriyani highlighted the importance of spiritual development alongside academic progress for the university community.

On 1 August, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta appointed Professor Mahli Zainuddin as a new full professor. The promotion was congratulated by Muhammadiyah central leader Haedar Nashir, who urged the academic elite to combat plagiarism and uphold honesty. Nashir praised Zainuddin’s rise from student activist to senior scholar, emphasizing the responsibility of university leaders in advancing the nation’s civilization.
