Muhammadu Rasheed, District Head of Gwandu, dies in Kebbi

Alhaji Muhammadu Rasheed, the District Head of Gwandu in Kebbi State, also known as Sarkin Gabas, has died. His passing was confirmed on Wednesday by officials from the Kebbi State Governor’s office.

Rasheed was the son of the late Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar Mai-Wurno and the grandson of the late Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Haruna Rasheed. Funeral prayers were scheduled to take place at 3 pm at the Palace of the Emir of Gwandu in Birnin Kebbi.

Governor Nasir Idris, who is currently in the United States for the United Nations General Assembly, expressed shock at the sudden death. State officials described the loss as a significant blow to the traditional institutions of Kebbi State.
