Muhyiddin Yassin trial: PMO instructions linked to Jana Wibawa projects

During the corruption trial of former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, a Ministry of Finance official testified that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) provided instructions regarding the assessment of firms for the Jana Wibawa program.

Datin Rosni Mohd. Yusoff, a former procurement division secretary, stated that the Ministry of Finance was instructed to only process applications recommended by the PMO. She clarified that while the PMO did not directly interfere in the committee’s specific decision-making or outcomes, the authority to act was derived from memos sent from the PMO to the Finance Minister’s office, which were then passed down to the procurement division.

Muhyiddin Yassin faces charges involving the abuse of position and money laundering related to the Jana Wibawa projects. The witness noted that during the evaluation process, certain companies, such as KCJ Engineering, had passed mandatory and financial assessments but failed technical evaluations.
