Mukalla forum launches regulation to empower women in trade unions

The Al-Amal Cultural and Social Feminist Foundation organized a dialogue forum in Mukalla to launch the Inclusion and Empowerment Regulation in Trade Union Work. This initiative, titled ‘Female Unionists as Decision Makers: From Empowerment to Policies’, is funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Yemen in partnership with Partners Yemen.

During the forum, Dr. Murad Ba-Alawi, Assistant Undersecretary of Hadramaut Governorate for Youth and Civil Society Organizations, emphasized the importance of increasing women's participation in institutional and trade union roles to support decision-making. The forum reviewed the principles and objectives of the new regulation, which aims to support women's access to leadership positions within union frameworks.

Participants discussed challenges to female participation and explored opportunities for capacity building and expanding women's roles in policy formulation. Fayadh Ba-Amer, Director General of Mukalla District, also highlighted the necessity of supporting initiatives that build women's capacities to enhance their contributions to society and policy-making.
