Mukesh Ambani prepares major Jio IPO as he continues to forgo salary

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said the company is refining Jio Platforms’ institutional framework to widen stakeholder participation ahead of an initial public offering slated for the first half of 2026. He told shareholders, "We will continue to evaluate strategic pathways that can broaden stakeholder participation and support Jio's long‑term growth, always guided by the principle of sustainable value creation." Reliance holds about 66.4% of Jio, while Meta and Google own the remainder. Analysts estimate the IPO could value Jio between $130 billion and $180 billion. In the fiscal year ended March 2026, Jio posted a 15% rise in profit after tax to ₹30,053 crore and revenue growth of 14.5%.

Ambani has drawn no salary for the sixth consecutive year, a voluntary policy he began in June 2020 during the COVID‑19 pandemic. His earnings now come solely from dividends; FY2025‑26 saw Reliance record a record net profit of ₹95,754 crore and a market capitalisation of about ₹18.19 trillion (≈$191.8 billion). Ambani’s personal dividend income amounted to ₹9.66 crore, with the promoter group receiving roughly ₹3,987 crore. The chairman’s compensation strategy underscores his focus on sustainable value creation for shareholders.
