Mukran Port celebrates 40 years as an industrial and energy hub
Mukran Port, located on the island of Rügen, is celebrating 40 years of operation. Spanning nearly 430 hectares, the facility provides 22 berths and includes modern ferry, railway, multipurpose, and offshore terminals.
Originally designed for ferry traffic, the port has evolved into a significant industrial, energy, and logistics hub. It plays a critical role in the offshore wind industry due to its proximity to several wind farms and its maritime connections to Baltic Sea coastal states. Managing Director Henry Forster noted that the port has transitioned into a central component of complex value chains, serving industrial companies, energy projects, and logistics providers.
Looking forward, the port aims to adapt to the energy and mobility transition, new trade flows, and changing industrial value chains to actively shape future developments.
