Muğla hosts 11th International Zurna Festival
The 11th International Zurna Festival has commenced in the Menteşe district of Muğla, organized by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality. Held at the Prof. Dr. Şadan Gökovalı Amphitheater, the event marks the first program following the venue's recent renovation.
Recognized as the world's only international festival dedicated to the zurna, the event brings together artists from various cities across Turkey and from abroad. During the opening, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General İhsan Çakar highlighted the region's deep musical heritage, specifically noting the master-apprentice drum and zurna culture in the Dibekdere neighborhood.
The festival's opening coincided with World Peace Day. Performances included local masters, the Nazende Polyphonic Turkish Music Choir, the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra, and renowned musicians Hüsnü Şenlendirici and Serkan Çağrı.
