Muğla Mayor Ahmet Aras denies nepotism allegations

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras issued a statement addressing allegations regarding changes in the municipality's Legal Counsel position. Aras denied claims that the previous Legal Counsel, Rabia Uçar Balaban, was forced to resign or was dismissed. According to Aras, Balaban chose to leave her position of her own volition due to private reasons, despite the municipality's request for her to continue her work.

Aras also addressed allegations of nepotism and political interference, specifically refuting claims that the newly appointed Legal Counsel is a relative of Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba or that the appointment was made through his intervention. Aras stated that the new appointee is a long-time colleague within the municipality and has no kinship with Ağbaba. He emphasized that the appointment process involved the input and suggestion of the outgoing counsel and maintained that meritocracy and public interest remain the municipality's primary criteria.
