Muğla Metropolitan Municipality launches rural health project
Muğla Metropolitan Municipality has launched the 'Sağlık için Sahadayız' (We are in the Field for Health) project to bring medical services to rural neighborhoods. Initiated during Public Health Week (September 3-9), the program aims to provide equal and fair access to healthcare across the municipality's 574 neighborhoods.
Health teams consisting of specialist doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, and dietitians have visited the Gökpınar and Esençay neighborhoods in the Menteşe district. During these visits, professionals provided information on topics such as heatstroke, asthma, fall risks, stroke prevention, nutrition, and family communication.
As part of the screenings, all participants underwent blood sugar and blood pressure measurements. In Gökpınar, 58 people attended, while 67 people participated in the Esençay meeting. Residents identified with high readings were immediately referred to medical facilities. The project is scheduled to continue, with Çayboyu Neighborhood designated as the next location.
