Muğla Metropolitan Municipality renovates water supply lines in Fethiye, Turkey

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality’s Water and Sewage Administration (MUSKİ) has launched a project to replace roughly 3,000 metres of the main drinking‑water pipe serving the Gökçeovacık neighbourhood of Fethiye. The new larger‑diameter HDPE pipe will also extend service to the nearby Kavacık neighbourhood and the Sabunlu area of Dalaman district, addressing aging infrastructure, low pressure and frequent summer water cuts caused by population growth.

Local officials praised the upgrade. Sabunlu neighbourhood muhtar Baki Varol noted that the previous system, installed in the 1990s, could no longer meet demand. Gökçeovacık muhtar Mehmet Kabak said the new line should provide reliable water for the next 10‑15 years. The project aims to prevent future pipe failures and ensure continuous drinking‑water supply for residents.
