Muğla Pine Honey Workshop focuses on sustainable production and branding
The South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA) organized the Muğla Pine Honey Workshop to address sustainable production and branding for the region’s honey industry. The event focused on enhancing the economic contribution of pine honey, which serves as a vital livelihood for local producers and a symbol of Muğla’s beekeeping culture.
Key discussion topics included ecosystem sustainability, bee health, product quality, traceability, and infrastructure for processing and packaging. Participants also emphasized the importance of geographical indications, product development, and expanding access to new export markets to increase competitive advantages.
Additionally, the workshop highlighted the emergence of apitherapy products in Muğla. Efforts are underway to diversify beekeeping products, including a project for an Apitherapy Beekeeping Products Processing Center involving the Muğla Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Muğla Governor's Office.
