Muğla rafting accident kills 14-year-old boy amid negligence claims
A 14-year-old boy, Taha Emir Kayaalp, died following a rafting accident in the Dalaman district of Muğla. The incident occurred on August 19 in Gürleyik village when a raft overturned, leaving the boy trapped against rocks in the river current.
The boy's family has alleged severe negligence by the rafting company. They claim that no safety training was provided before the tour and that the equipment, including life jackets and helmets, was old, worn, and ill-fitting. The mother, Çiğdem Katalıoğlu, stated that the company prioritized payment over safety and provided misleading information regarding age restrictions.
An instructor has been arrested in connection with the incident, and the family has filed formal complaints against the company officials and other responsible parties. Investigations into the circumstances of the accident are ongoing.
