Muğla selected as pilot region for Urban-CoLLaR project
Muğla has been designated as a pilot region for the international Urban-CoLLaR project, an EU-supported initiative aimed at accelerating circular and regenerative urban transformation at the neighborhood scale. Coordinated by Bilkent University and hosted by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, the project seeks to align urban development with the European Union’s strategy to achieve carbon-neutral, resource-efficient cities by 2050.
A consortium workshop was recently held to focus on the Menteşe pilot area. The project involves a wide range of international stakeholders, including local governments and universities from Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, and Romania, alongside Turkish partners such as Çankaya Municipality.
The initiative is scheduled to conclude by December 31, 2027, with a total budget of approximately 1.83 billion Euros. Funding is provided by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and various European partner funding agencies through the DUT partnership.
