Muğla to host Mediterranean Climate Summit in 2026
The Mediterranean Climate Summit is scheduled to take place in Muğla, Turkey, on September 28-29, 2026. Organized by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and ICLEI Europe, the event aims to address the urgent climate risks facing the Mediterranean basin, where more than 510 million people are vulnerable to extreme temperatures, droughts, forest fires, floods, and water scarcity.
The summit will bring together local governments, public institutions, scientists, non-governmental organizations, and international bodies to develop common action mechanisms and strengthen cooperation between cities. Technical sessions will focus on critical issues including marine ecosystems, rising sea levels, climate-resilient urban planning, and the transition toward green energy to mitigate the impacts of rapid warming in the region.
