Multi-vehicle crash on Irapuato-Abasolo highway leaves one injured

A multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-trailer, a passenger car, and a gas cylinder delivery truck occurred on the Abasolo–Irapuato highway (Federal Highway 1110) near the Expo Agroalimentaria facilities. The accident, which took place around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, resulted in one person sustaining minor contusions that did not require hospital transfer.

The crash sequence began when a white Honda Civic was struck from behind by a semi-trailer, causing the car to be projected into a gas delivery van. The impact caused the delivery van to lose control and strike the central median barrier, scattering gas tanks across the roadway. Firefighters inspected the tanks to ensure there were no leaks or immediate hazards, eventually confirming the area was safe.

The incident caused significant traffic congestion in both directions. Elements of the National Guard (Guardia Nacional, División Carreteras) arrived to secure the perimeter and manage traffic while cranes were called to remove the damaged vehicles.
