Fatal multi-vehicle accidents reported in El Salvador and Venezuela

Two major fatal traffic accidents have been reported in El Salvador and Venezuela.

In San Salvador, a heavy dump truck lost control, reportedly due to brake failure, causing a massive multi-vehicle collision involving at least 14 to 15 vehicles near the Constitución Boulevard and Pan-American Highway. The crash resulted in the deaths of two people, including María Elisa Hernández Portillo, a judge for the Chalatenango Penitentiary Surveillance and Execution Court. The driver of the truck, Rudy Joel Rivera Hernández, was detained. At least seven to eight people were injured in the incident.

In Venezuela, a truck traveling from Barinas to Acarigua crashed into a tree and fell into a ravine on the José Antonio Páez highway in Portuguesa state. The accident killed three people: the driver, Francisco Javier Azuaje Rivero, and two military personnel, First Lieutenant Adrián José Milano Rodríguez and Sergeant First Class Reinaldo Antonio Gómez Cuervo. Seven others, including several soldiers from the Miguel Palacios Fajardo 933 Battalion, sustained injuries and were hospitalized with multiple fractures.
