MultiCare announces 138 layoffs and hospital closures in Washington

MultiCare Health System has announced 138 job separations and several facility closures across Washington state. The layoffs are scheduled to take place between October 27, 2026, and January 1, 2027.

In King County, affected locations include Auburn Medical Center, Fountain Plaza and the Off Campus ED in Federal Way, and the Navos West Seattle Campus. The most significant staff reductions will impact clinical assistant nurse managers, certified ophthalmology assistants, and patient experience representatives.

Additional layoffs will impact various sites in Tacoma and Puyallup, including Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and the Richard C. Ostenson Cancer Center. Furthermore, MultiCare will implement six closures at various locations in Spokane and Spokane Valley.
