Ecuador police probe seven burned bodies linked to gang leader Carlos Suástegui
On 27‑28 July, investigators in Dos Bocas, Cañar Province, Ecuador discovered seven men aged 21‑30 inside a house that had been set on fire. The bodies were severely burned and, in several cases, bound with wire.
Authorities suspect the massacre is tied to an internal feud within the criminal organization Los Águilas. Police say the incident may be connected to the June 17 killing of gang leader Carlos Suástegui Villanueva in Guayaquil, suggesting a power struggle among rival factions.
Evidence recovered includes an incinerated SUV, firearms, ammunition and other weapons. The victims have not yet been identified and remain in the custody of the provincial morgue pending forensic examination.
