Multiple fires destroy abandoned buildings in France
Two separate fires involving unoccupied structures have been reported in France.
In Buironfosse, a violent fire broke out on Friday, October 23, at approximately 10:15 p.m. in an uninhabited house on Rue du Trou-de-Fontenelle. Despite the rapid response and significant reinforcements from several nearby rescue centers, including Étreux, La Capelle, and Guise, the house and an adjacent dependency were completely destroyed. An investigation has been launched by the Vervins gendarmes to determine the cause of the blaze.
In Puymoyen, an abandoned 300 m² manor located at the Peusec site caught fire on a Monday evening. The alert was raised at 8:40 p.m. Firefighters faced difficulties due to the isolated location, heavy vegetation, and a large stone blocking access to the path. While floors collapsed during the incident, crews used three hoses and a robot to prevent the fire from consuming the entire roof. The origin of the fire remains unknown.
