Multiple fires reported in Colombia's protected park and Spain's migrant settlement

In Colombia, a forest fire has been active for 24 hours within the Vía Parque Isla de Salamanca protected area in Magdalena. Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia reported that the fire, which began on the night of September 10, is a subterranean type. The flames started in areas covered by aquatic plants and spread to zones containing guayacán and mangrove trees. This is the second fire in the park this week, following an incident in the Los Higuerones sector that caused smoke to affect air quality in Barranquilla.

In Spain, a fire destroyed approximately 40 makeshift shelters in the Naves del Tarajal migrant settlement in Ceuta. The blaze, which occurred around midnight, affected families primarily from Morocco. While no injuries were reported, the fire forced evacuations in the surrounding area. Witnesses suggested the fire might have been caused by candles, though police are investigating whether the cause was accidental or intentional. The fire did not reach the industrial warehouses or adjacent buildings.
