Multiple residential fires reported in Chile and Peru

Multiple separate fire incidents have been reported across South America.

In Puerto Montt, Chile, a vehicle collision with a traffic light and an electrical pole caused a transformer to fall, igniting a fire. The blaze destroyed two vehicles and caused significant damage to a nearby home, affecting more than 50% of its structure. No injuries were reported.

In Quellón, Chile, a fire destroyed a 240-square-meter residence on Cailín Island. The incident resulted in the death of an adult woman found among the remains. A neighbor who attempted to assist during the fire sustained serious burns.

In Juliaca, Peru, security agents and neighbors rescued a 35-year-old woman and her 16-year-old son. The pair had reportedly been trapped inside a residence for three days during a fire. The woman alleged the confinement was due to a family dispute.
