On the afternoon of 4 August 2026 a van travelling on MG‑164 near km 207 in Pedra do Indaiá, Minas Gerais, suffered a sudden right‑front tyre burst. The 57‑year‑old driver lost control on a curve, the vehicle left the road and struck vegetation. Both the driver and an 18‑year‑old passenger were lightly injured and were taken to the municipal emergency unit in Santo Antônio do Monte.
Later that day a collision on PR‑487 between the municipalities of Cândido de Abreu and Reserva in Paraná involved a car and two trucks. One occupant of the car died at the scene and two others were injured. Rescue teams, including a SAMU helicopter and fire‑brigade personnel, responded to the incident.
A separate crash on BR‑040 at km 668 near Carandaí, also in Minas Gerais, involved two passenger cars and two cargo trucks. Thirteen people were injured; two (a man and a woman) were trapped in the wreckage and suffered serious injuries, while the remaining eleven sustained minor injuries. All victims received on‑site care and were transported to the Hospital Regional de Barbacena.
