Multiple shootings reported in France during weekend violence

Two separate shooting incidents occurred in France on Saturday, September 19.

In Saint-Laurent de la Cabrerisse, a neighborhood dispute over noise escalated into violence. A resident reportedly retrieved a shotgun to intimidate neighbors following a multi-day period of loud festivities. During a struggle to disarm the individual, shots were fired, resulting in four people being wounded by pellets. The victims were transported to hospitals in Carcassonne and Narbonne in relative emergency condition. One individual is currently in police custody as investigators examine conflicting accounts regarding whether the shooting was accidental or motivated by physical aggression from the neighbors.

In Nantes, a shooting took place late Saturday night in the Malakoff district. A 19-year-old man was wounded by gunfire in the lobby of a building on Rue d’Angleterre, an area noted for drug activity. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle. Following the incident, the Brigade de Recherche et d’Intervention (BRI) arrested six individuals believed to be linked to the shooting. The victim was taken to the Nantes University Hospital in relative emergency condition.
